You will be given lots of responsibility as well as guidance from some of the best in the business.

Hi, I'm Sarah

University of Plymouth

At the end of my 12 months at Warner Bros. as a placement student, I returned to university in Plymouth to complete my final year. I knew after working in London for a year that I wanted to go back as soon as possible, and I was fortunate enough to secure a job back at Warner Bros. a month after I had finished university.

What is involved in your current role at Warner Bros.?

Filmbankmedia, who are a joint venture between Warner Bros., Sony Pictures and NT Digital Group, provide licensing for film screenings that take place outside of the cinema and home and are a leader in non-theatrical film distribution, representing many major Hollywood, Bollywood and independent film studios.

As a New Business Account Executive for Filmbankmedia, I am responsible for working across EMEA territories to research and identify new opportunities within the Transport and Healthcare sectors, as well as being the main point of contact for the Associate Director of Latin America within the UK office, assisting with new business developments, licensee set-ups, content lists and studio clearances within Latin America to ensure smooth processes from the UK to LATAM.

Why would you recommend a Placement year at Warner Bros.?

Warner Bros. treat you as a real employee from day one, giving placement students the opportunity to have lots of responsibility day-to-day that will be extremely useful as transferable skills when you’re looking for a job post-university. The wide range of departments within WB that offer placements means that there is something for everyone, and this can be a good to see what field of business you are really interested in. The chance to work for one of the most well-known and globally successful entertainment companies is really exciting, and to top it off, there are opportunities to gain perks such as attending film premieres and being given merchandise/DVDs.

What was the most important piece of advice or thing you learnt during your Placement Year at Warner Bros.?

Gather as much information from all areas of the business! WB has many departments and it’s a great opportunity to see how a successful business is run across the board. Speaking to people from various areas of the company is not only useful for contacts within your placement year, but also for once you have finished university.
