My team are incredibly supportive and couldn’t have been more welcoming.

Hi, I'm Malu

Student at Oxford Brookes University

I applied for as many marketing and communications roles that I could with Warner Bros. for obvious reasons – it is such an influential company that is responsible for so many of my favourite films and TV shows that I have grown up with. As a huge film lover it feels amazing to be part of this company, experiencing the every-day goings on and being able to contribute towards this myself.

Describe a normal day in the office…

It would be difficult to accurately describe my every day routine, as each week brings different tasks and fun opportunities along with it. Often I have meetings throughout the day with a variety of different departments, which is brilliant in terms of networking. Staying on top of my emails is essential, as I have a number of people who are relying on me to get various jobs done. One of my main responsibilities is looking after a variety of documents which are kept by the Film Catalogue Team, an example being "The Bible" which is a complete list of all the films that Warner Bros. have the rights to. One thing I love about my day to day work, is that I get to communicate with a large number of really interesting people, whether it is inside or outside of the company. The weekly Newsletter is also my pride and joy.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The best thing about my role as a Film Catalogue Marketing Intern is the amount of responsibility that I have actually been given. I come into work feeling like a valued part of my team and even the company as a whole. From the get go, my team have been incredibly supportive in regards to getting me stuck into as many different tasks and projects as they can, for my own benefit. One of the most exciting tasks that I have been given is to come up with one product and one promotion which the team could potentially run with. I am always invited along to important meetings, which has really given me a valuable insight into how this industry works. I feel immensely lucky to be part of a company where they genuinely care about making my placement year as beneficial for me as possible. I can honestly say that this year is going to make a huge impact on the rest of my career.

The Shawshank Redemption

What’s been a highlight for you so far?

The experience as a whole is going to be a tough one to beat, when it comes to future jobs. It is an incredible feeling to be part of such an impressive and innovative corporate business, which will be on my CV for life. Within only my second week of being a part of Warner Bros., I was given the opportunity to attend the Dunkirk premiere. Whilst on the red carpet, I had a very surreal moment where I got to walk closely behind one of the original Veterans, which for me made the film even more incredible to experience. This was an incredibly inspiring evening for me, which really reassured me that this is an industry I am passionate to stay a part of.
